May 26th  -  We have 13 cases

New mediators are coming to observe and co-mediate.  Come and show 'em what you've got!

Thank you for making us a part of your Thursday Morning routine. We really need you!

Director’s Notes

There were 6 or 7 of us who attended the Bankruptcy Training in Milwaukee on May third, and we were happy to learn that the process is exactly the same as the Foreclosure Mediations - only better!  The debtor and lender both have attorneys who gather and approve the Financial Packet before mediation is scheduled.  The mediation involves only the house, as all other property in the bankruptcy has been dealt with separately.  The lender and the lender's attorney appear by video-conference and we have a location in Oshkosh all set up for us.  So, if and when we start mediating these Chapter 13 Bankruptcies, we'll all be ready to help people.

The Winnebago County Restorative Justice Work Group will be recognizing WCRC, along with a few other local schools and community programs, for our application of restorative justice principles in the service we provide.  This will take place on May 24, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. in room 33 of the Oshkosh Winnebago County Dept. of Human Services Office, 220 Washington Avenue.  This honor goes especially to those of you who have mediated cases involving juveniles and their families.  These cases are as challenging as they are rewarding and I thank you for your thoughtful, caring and skilled work with these sensitive issues.  It will be about a 15 minute presention.  Come if you can!

"Since knowledge is power, listening is the way to get it."

There are 3 levels of listening:

1.  For the facts (what happened)

2.  For the feelings (how they feel about it)

3.  For the meaning (what they can do about it moving forward)
